Leon Keith Hulskotter, 71, of Smithboro, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville, Illinois.
Leon was born June 23, 1953, in Vandalia, Illinois, the son of Herbert and Gertrude (Oertwig) Hulskotter. Leon is remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his family and as a friendly, outgoing person.
A proud graduate of Vandalia High School class of 1971, he completed his studies and went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1972 – 1976, during which time he had the opportunity to serve in Spain. After returning home, Leon settled into a career at Carlisle Syntec, where he worked for 35 years.
He was a devoted father to his son, Ryan, and daughter, Audri, and though he later divorced his wife, Kathy, they shared many cherished memories. Beyond his professional life, Leon found great joy in cultivating his garden and greenhouse, growing an array of fruits and vegetables that he loved to share. His p
